Davy Jones, members of the 1960s television show and pop band the
Monkees, died on Wednesday of a heart attack in Florida at the age of
66.
One of voices behind the band’s biggest and most memorable
hit, “I’m A Believer,” the Manchester, England, native joined the band
in 1965. Two years later, the band, along with Jones, had their first of
a handful of Billboard No. 1 with the song, which would later be made
popular by a cover version featured in the film “Shrek.”
Twitter
is already mourning the loss of the former teen idol, who also made
several cameo appearances on children’s programs like “SpongeBob
Squarepants” as a voice over talent. Jones also appeared on Broadway
before his stint with the Monkees, which lasted until 1971.
