Here we go again.
Kaspersky Lab security researcher Costin Raiu has discovered another Mac OS X Trojan. Dubbed Backdoor.OSX.SabPub.a (or just SabPub, for short), the malware uses Java exploits to infect a Mac, connect to a remote Web site, and wait for instructions that include taking screenshots of the user's Mac and executing commands.

Apple Investigating Wi-Fi Issues with the New iPad
Apple has reportedly acknowledged the Wi-Fi problems with its new iPad (3rd gen), and is investigating the problem.
When the third-generation iPad first hit store shelves, users began to complain about charging and overheating issues. Now Apple is receiving reports that its coveted tablet sporting the spiffy new Retina display is also suffering Wi-Fi problems.

Mike Daisey took aim at Apple, now challenges Chinese translator
NEW YORK--Mike Daisey made a name for himself by taking on mighty
Apple but is now challenging the credibility of a little-known Chinese
translator.
The actor and Apple critic is putting his word against hers. The woman
who assisted him during a trip to China in 2010 disputes many of his
claims about witnessing inhumane working conditions at factories where
iPads and iPhones are assembled.
How Apple keeps them lining up
What does the iPad have in common with Harry Potter? Quite a lot it turns out.
It's got legions of fans eager to line up for it, lose sleep over it,
and even skip work to be the first to get their hands on it. And of
course there are those that detest it entirely.

Apple's new iPad gets unboxed, benchmarked early
Apple's new iPad doesn't hit stores until Friday, but that hasn't kept it from ending up out in the wild first.
Vietnamese site Tinhte.vn today posted photos and a video
of the new iPad for the first time outside of Apple's unveiling event
last week, and ahead of reviews from CNET and other news outlets.

Small Apple tablet chatter gets louder from suppliers
Don't believe Apple will release a small
tablet?
Maybe not. But that hasn't stopped a constant trickle of reports citing
Asia-based suppliers who are reportedly gearing up to make parts for
the device in the third quarter of this year.
AU Optronics and LG Display will supply the 7.85-inch screen for the
Apple device, according to Taipei-based Economic Daily News--that report
was cited in the Macotakara blog in a post dated March 6.
Next iPad will be the iPad HD, not the iPad 3
CNET has learned that Apple's next
tablet will be called the iPad HD instead of the iPad 3.
A developer who's previously provided reliable information with
respect to things Apple and otherwise tells us the next iPad uses the HD
moniker instead of going with "iPad 3."

It's not the iPad 3, but it would be sweet if it was (video)
Gadget geeks everywhere are, of course, beside themselves with anticipation over next week's iPad announcement from Apple. And, of course, the rumors have been flying.
But it seems unlikely we'll see too much of a departure from the
current model--except when it comes to the high-res display. As CNET's
Donald Bell puts it, "the most likely scenario we'll see from Apple is an incrementally improved device that will stun users (and disrupt an industry) with a unique high-resolution display."

Will the iPad 3 really cost more? New rumor: Nope
A mysterious pricing sheet that emerged earlier this week suggesting Apple's next
tablet will cost more than the iPad 2 is now being countered by another rumor that says otherwise.
Pointing to parts and pricing information provided by an anonymous source who has proved reliable in the past, 9to5Mac
says that Apple's new lineup of iPad models due to be unveiled next
week will carry the same capacities and price tags as existing versions.

Apple’s market value reaches $500 billion
Apple’s market value peaked today, reaching $500
billion, a place not many have gone nor managed to stay for long. The
company is already the most valuable in the world and the gap between it
and second place Exxon continues to widen as investors jump on the
bandwagon of Apple’s recent holiday success and enticed by the
possibility of Apple instituting a dividend. Today’s milestone makes Apple only the sixth US corporation to have reached the $500 billion
mark.
Apple Presses for Rights to iPad Name in China
iPad 3 may come in three flavors
The iPad 3 will reportedly come in three versions to handle Wi-Fi, 3G, and 4G.
Citing intel from its own sources, 9to5Mac said yesterday that the
new iPads will be codenamed J1, J2, and J2a, backing up previous
information that it received.

The curious case of the missing iPad 3 home button
Eagle-eyed readers have been pointing out a curious omission on the imagery of the iPad-theme invitation Apple released this morning: there's no home button in sight.
The simplest explanation here is that it's a photo of (what is
presumably) an iPad 2 on its side, something that's not that much of a
stretch, given that the iPad has been designed to work the same way, no
matter which end is down.

iPhone drives Sprint growth, but drags loss to $1.3B

Sprint Nextel saw the biggest surge in new customers in six years thanks to the
iPhone, but that growth came at a hefty price.
Sprint reported a loss of $1.3 billion, or 43 cents a share. In the
year-ago quarter, the company posted a loss of $929 million, or 31 cents
a share. The results included a loss of $241 million, or 8 cents a
share, due to one-time costs related to asset charges on property,
plant, equipment, as well as severance costs, and its investment in
Clearwire, which provides Sprint with 4G WiMax service.

Won't buy Apple products anymore? Then don't stop there
Apple's outrageous success has a dark side. But does that mean it's time to stop buying Apple products?
Before we go there, let's get a few things out of the way. The focus of the New York Times iPad human cost story was Apple because:
Fame: Like anything that is constantly in the public eye (such as, say, a Republican presidential candidate) Apple is a magnet for reporters. There's lots and lots of reporting about Apple, some invariably negative.
